Connecting Accounts
Before Octopost can post for you, it needs permission from each platform. Connecting takes about a minute per account.

Supported platforms
Octopost connects to YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, and X. The Free plan includes YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok; LinkedIn and X are available on the Creator and Agency plans. You can also connect more than one account on the same platform — for example, two Instagram accounts for two brands. How many accounts you can connect in total depends on your plan.
How to connect an account
- 1
Open the Accounts page
In the dashboard sidebar, click Accounts. You'll see a card for each platform. - 2
Click Connect
On the platform's card, click Connect. The platform's own official login window opens — sign in there and approve the permissions it lists. - 3
Check the badge
Back in Octopost, the card now shows a green Connected badge with your @username. You're ready to post to that account.
Add a channel prompt
Each connected account has a Channel Prompt field. Use it to describe what this specific channel posts and how it should sound — for example, “cooking content, friendly tone, use emojis.” It works alongside your brand prompt to fine-tune AI captions for this one account, so your LinkedIn can sound professional while your TikTok stays playful. More on how the two prompts work together in AI Captions.
When a connection stops working
Platform permissions occasionally expire or change. If posting or analytics stops working for an account, come back to the Accounts page and click Reconnect on that card — you'll go through the same quick login and everything picks up where it left off.
One extra for TikTok: connected TikTok cards show an Enable Daily Analytics button. This adds day-by-day performance data to your analytics dashboard, and it requires a TikTok Business Account.
